]]> ਇਹ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਖ-ਮੰਤਰੀ ਕੈਪਟਨ ਅਮਰਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਹੈ। ਸਾਰਾਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਇਕ ਛੋਟੀ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਸੀ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰੀ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਹਵਲਦਾਰ ਈਸ਼ਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ 36ਵੀਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਰਜਮੈਂਟ ਦੇ 22 ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਸੀ । 12 ਸਤੰਬਰ 1897 ਨੂੰ ਸਵੇਰੇ 9 ਵਜੇ 8000 ਓਕਜ਼ਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਫ਼ਰੀਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ । ਸਿੱਖ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਨੇ ਪੌਣੇ ਸੱਤ ਘੰਟੇ ਤੱਕ ਦਲੇਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਦਾ ਮੋਰਚਾ ਸੰਭਾਲੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ 200 ਕਬਾਇਲੀ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ 600 ਫੱਟੜ ਹੋਏ । ਸਾਰੇ 22 ਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਤਮ-ਸਮਰਪਣ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਇ ਆਖ਼ਰੀ ਸਾਹ ਤੱਕ ਲੜਨਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ । ਇਹ ਪੁਸਤਕ 36ਵੀਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਰਜਮੈਂਟ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲੜੀ ਗਈ ਸਾਰਾਗੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੀ ਜੰਗ, ਸਮਾਣਾ ਦੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਕਿਲ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮੋਰਚੇਬੰਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਚੱਲ ਕੇ ਮਲਕੰਦ ਫ਼ੀਲਡ ਫ਼ੋਰਸ ਦੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵੱਜੋਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਿਭਾਈਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਲਾਮਿਸਾਲ ਫ਼ੌਜੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਦਾਸਤਾਨ ਹੈ।
