]]> ਪਾਠਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਨਵੀਂ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੱਖੀਂ ਡਿੱਠੇ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਜੋ ਮੰਜ਼ਰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕਿਤੇ ਵੱਧ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਵੇਰਵੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਆ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਫਿਰ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਕਿਤਾਬ ਦੇ ਬ੍ਰਿਤਾਂਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਤਾਜ਼ਗੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਕੁਕਰਮ ਲਈ ਫ਼ੌਜੀ ਤਿਆਰੀ, ਹਫੜਾ-ਦਫੜੀ, ਭੱਜ ਦੌੜ ਤੇ ਹਤਾਸ਼ਾ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਸਾਕਾਰ ਹੋ ਉੱਠਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਵੀ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਨੇ ਸਮੇਤ ਕੈਮਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰਾ ਸਾਜੋ ਸਮਾਨ ਜ਼ਬਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ਼ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਤਬਾਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਲਮਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।
ਜਗਦੀਸ਼ ਚੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਲਿਖਤ ‘ਚੋਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਸ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਹੀ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਤਸਵੀਰ ਉੱਘੜਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸਟੇਟੇ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੂ ਲੇਖਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਰਾਖ਼ਸ਼ ਵਜੋਂ ਬਣਾਈ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੀ ਜਗਦੀਸ਼ ਚੰਦਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਹ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਵਕਤ ਵੀ ਨਮਸਕਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਰਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦਾ, ਜਦ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਹ ਡਿਓੜ੍ਹੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ।
